Without short notice,
The void within
Is a voice without.
"Mine Craft" isn't virtual.
Sigh...
What was it the Raven said?

Something about eternity.

Feline g-grinning...
We found a bone!
(We... rrratsss!)
Deer..? Maybe. I mean, it's thick!
And it appears to've been gnawed on by things less than tame.
But I thanked it (you know, for-- "bee-ing").
And I've turned to my day cave to--
F-f-fashion a flute.

So I hit my left hand on the door upstairs... and it hurt like a bitch! I can't explain why, but it pissed me off-- ya know? It really hurt. So I kicked it with the heel of my right-leg sneaker, and now I'm just in all sorts of trouble.
My hand doesn't hurt too much now, though.
As I chuckle to myself in silence...

She's Moving Like---
So I tried proposing to MF today... apparently she's not into ninjas. I don't get it. I mean... I studied GP for hours to get that look-- you know: hat, vest, fake gun... beard crumbs. I dunno.
But hey... I did my thing. After she shot me, I just slipped back into the shadows and hung out with Sona and Akali for a while. They're always a Riot.
Sona just "button mashes," if you catch my drift, but it's like we're always on the same wavelength... and there's something so sexy about that!
As for Akali, well... that nurse outfit? Heh, well... need I say more..?

Silenced
Through shattered blue glass
my mind's
...eyes...
Skip, hop
Back, drop
and with
Four Lett(er) Word(s)
Take years to unwind,
Like dying white flames--
Stife-Rifled, torn.
Blank Pages Bleed Black
On THREE
Retail-claimed (IS)lands.
Birds rise 'gainst Ty-
Phoons and Stillness.
For two nights, Your Might's broken Rainbows.
But what's worse is the itch on my forehead...
One Light Wrapped in
Shaking Blue Chains...
And the Silence
Makes Wei
For Snaked Clouds, Slythering under Green Curtains.
Courage gives us the strength...
To Unite.
Humming the Moon's endless refrain...
my mind's

Wait, wait... don't tell me.
One day, when I was shaken, an Angel of the Sea joked that I should get a tattoo…
“The Strong, Silent Type,” he said… in Chinese symbols, he meant, since I had been keeping to myself and my Three Kingdoms Era novels.
An angry Soldier overheard—and to him I was a traitor. Maybe… maybe I was?
I mean… if I’m the strong, silent type and the Ancient Chinese way of life celebrates this lifestyle. Then... well… I guess some would say I’m not a proper American.
But maybe I’m just not Army material, eh?
I couldn’t quite make it there… no, not me... the strong, silent type.
If I’m not loud and belligerent, I’m not doing it right.
…Is that right?
I know a lot of people who would agree.
But… that Angel respected me.
He…
Trusted me…
And when I left that place, the Angry Soldier apologized. We shook hands, and he meant it.
So I raised my silent sales and drifted back… into nothingness…
A ghost soldier… armed only with the power of deafening silence.
And two blue eyes that kill.
Test #FF3710 - Debriefing and Results
Yesterday, some fifth of July (in the Year of Our Lord, 2011), ninety-nine pseudo-randomly selected participants of varying religious, ethnic, and sexual orientations were (quite gently[!] and with legally satisfactory[!] levels of approval[!]) subjected to 3 seconds of our newly-unveiled "All-Seeing Eye" device, meant to aid us and you in determining whether or not you are eligible to enter beta testing for the highly-anticipated Rebirth program.
If you happen to be one of the lucky participants who were approved for the program, you should expect a congratulatory note, with complimentary authentication key included, shortly. For those who were not accepted into the program, we apologize for the inconvenience and offer you this consolatory dubstep:

Str-angel
Hey angel,
Where’d you hide that key?
Where’d you hide that key?
I saw it,
but when your eyes met mine
the shadows driving your black chariot
but when your eyes met mine
the shadows driving your black chariot
reached out for
mine,
fried, black by purple love
torn— tight, twist and trying—but, now, off
and as the night lights snap me
back—in, to waking—
mine,
fried, black by purple love
torn— tight, twist and trying—but, now, off
and as the night lights snap me
back—in, to waking—
You blush, brushing blonde locks
back beyond the sweet folds of pink ear lobes and—
back beyond the sweet folds of pink ear lobes and—
say
Angel
where’d you put that key..?
Angel
where’d you put that key..?
A white hi tears out from chest
and as the waves
break over your
rosing cheeks I think
sure! you were mine,
but your eyes, close, and that chariot
carries
you off
to some sunless, endless, nightset.
Dark shards of my heart
hear your tale,
strung tin cans
crashing to gray pavement below.
and as the waves
break over your
rosing cheeks I think
sure! you were mine,
but your eyes, close, and that chariot
carries
you off
to some sunless, endless, nightset.
Dark shards of my heart
hear your tale,
strung tin cans
crashing to gray pavement below.
But as the lit cigarette falls twice from my lips
a cold key drops to closed palm
and I wonder how long you’ve been waiting...

Dear...
Friends,
I don't think I need you even half as much as you think I think you need me.
So please excuse this whispered outburst (slash prayer) of paranoia. I trust my personal madness doesn't effect you the way your collective madness effects me. Go on about your duties.
Sincerely,
Moonbeam
P.S. Fuck you.

Woohoo!
Nothing ever goes quite according to plan, right? But it's all good!
Thanks to Professor Richard Bower and his videogame narrative class at CCC, my experience at Dr. Richard Marcoux's Enitiative Global Game Jam, and my own curiosity, a number of videogame-related projects have been set into motion. Some of these projects have been scrapped, others are still in the development stage, and still more are just beginning. It's fun! My friend and classmate Matt and I started a videogame design club called D3 Interactive at Cayuga Community College and met up with some amazing, talented individuals (Jason, Paul, the other Jason, Chelsea, Adam, Josh, Corin, and others [<3]). Through D3 Interactive I have met graphics artists, musicians, writers, designers, coordinators, bloggers, and most importantly (to me), friends.
I'll still update this blog occasionally, but I'm pretty busy these days! Don't forget to enjoy the weather, everyone! It's therapeutic!
P.S. I find this song and this video absolutely mindblowing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iFizEkfEAQ.

Game Jam 2011
So I'm in Morrisville now, and I've been teamed up with a programmer and a couple of great artists. We clicked well, and quickly formulated an idea for a game which has been evolving throughout the night. I'm impressed by the rapid progress we're making, and I feel confident that we can put out a fun and complete project by the deadline. We'll see if I still have that confidence late Saturday night when we're debugging and rushing to tie up loose ends.
The topic we're encouraged to build our game around is "extinction," which I believe our little game is incorporating just enough. I can't imagine the number of Dinosaur Vs. Asteroid games this contest will produce... but I also can't pretend I don't want to play them.
I have already learned a lot from this event, and it's only the first night. I'm psyched about the whole thing. Can't wait to share our project with the world.

Update
Soon, I will start writing in-depth reviews of games. I'm just settling into new classes for the semester, including one I'm very excited about: Video Game Narrative. It's an English class, and will focus on the stories/backstories/character profiles/etc. of video games.
On the first day of class, the instructor presented an opportunity to connect with the coordinator of the Global Game Jam at Morrisville College. I don't know a lot about it, really, but it's a competition between thousands of students around the world to design and develop a video game following a certain theme within 48 hours. I don't have much programming experience, so I'd primarily be a storyboard writer/designer, and I would take on whatever various tasks I can handle. I can't wait to see how this turns out... it should be a good learning experience for me.
Click here to check out the website for the competition. Once the contest is over, the games will all be uploaded onto there. I'll keep this blog updated, and I'll link to the finished product as soon as I'm able. It starts this Friday, so hopefully you can expect to see results by early next week.

A blog is born...
Gaming and writing are passions of mine. It's time I put the two together. Give me a few days for planning and preparation, and we'll see what I can do with this thing. Wish me luck. And do return.
